Need to be experts at internet marketing as well as offline promotions. Business opportunities or affiliate programs will give you your own website but that is not enough. Just having a website, especially one that looks like everyone else's is not good enough to generate sales. When looking into a working from home opportunity you need to either make sure that the site has an auto-responder that you have access to or you need to create a new site that drives traffic to the one that they gave you. I always prefer option number 2 when promoting my businesses because even if you leave that company you maintain ownership of your mailing list.

When choosing a domain name do not go for what sounds nice unless you have a large marketing budget. You will need to think of a name that includes key words that people are looking for when they search for your product or service. There are many online free tools that will help you find these keywords.

The second reason why you need your own domain name is so that you have access to your own meta tags. Most free websites may give you your own metatags, only if you are lucky, but most will not  give you access to them. So you and others in that company will have the same metatags. What is the advantage?  Again find a keywords tool and use it to create better metatags than the competition.

A third reason why you need your own website is so that you can add content on a continuous basis. People come online to search for information not to buy products. You need to peak their interest with good relevant information and then guide them to buy your product. Good consistent information is key to getting them to return to your site again and again. You need to build trust before you can build sales.

A website of your own with loyal readers will lead to a mailing list with loyal readers. These people are eager to get your emails and read them for the latest tidbit. And that means that they will be exposed to your ads and your products time and again.

Work at home businesses need to be taken seriously. You need to have a marketing and business plan. Look for business opportunities that have step-by-step plans in place and follow them.
